Job Summary:

The Network Systems Engineer with EdgeCo Holdings is responsible for administering and supporting the enterprise systems and network infrastructure, maintaining the functionality, security/patching, and uptime of critical technology systems such as file and print servers, storage infrastructure, application servers, and client/vendor connectivity.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA – hybrid, 3 days per week in office

 

Responsiblities & Duties:

Maintain, support, and implement new and existing Linux and Ubuntu systems.
Monitor system backup and recovery for data archiving, and disaster recovery planning.
Implement and support regulatory compliance, policies and procedures related to IT operations and security.
Responsible for the patching and scanning of the infrastructure (Linux and Ubuntu servers).
Install, upgrade, and maintain the functionality of technology systems.
Maintain the functionality, security, and uptime of critical technology systems.
Regularly improve the security posture of enterprise systems and network infrastructure.
Document all aspects of the enterprise systems and key processes related to its operation and maintenance.
Record and respond to technical incidents and requests using the Service Desk ticketing system while adhering to performance goals.
Assist with new technology investigations, coordinate implementations and support of new enterprise applications and technologies entering the infrastructure, write and update service and procedural documentation, propose and implement process improvements, and work collaboratively with peers and support teams.
Implement and support existing and new applications and technologies.
Provide prompt and courteous customer support to end users and troubleshooting activities (e.g., Service Desk ticket and queue monitoring, direct person-to-person troubleshooting, etc.)
Resolve technical issues within defined SLAs and document root cause and resolution.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
Contribute to the development and implementation of hardware and software standards for servers, wireless technology, file & print services, etc.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of overall backup and recovery strategy (Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity).
Contribute to the development and implementation of ‘best-practice’ standards as well as departmental policies and procedures.
Document architecture, policies, and procedures.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

4 Year Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or 5+ years of equivalent work experience
5+ years of managing Information Technology and network support
Experience managing Active Directory, OUs, Group Policies, Windows Server Update Services
Experience with Linux and Ubuntu systems
Experience with APM systems like Nagios or Solarwinds
Strong communication skills both written and verbal required
Proven experience in the implementation and maintenance of hardware solutions
System administration experience with Windows desktop and Windows Servers
Good understanding of user environment management, including desktops/laptops, profile management, software delivery, etc.
Good people skills and the ability to interact with and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
Proactive in understanding and staying up-to-date on the current projects in progress, projects in pipeline and operational issues. Similarly, with industry technology trends and applicability of software/hardware solutions
Certification in VMware, Linux, and Ubuntu systems preferred or equivalent experience.
Administration experience with Microsoft web applications and technologies – IIS 7.0
Strong hands-on/technical knowledge of core Microsoft technologies including but not limited to Windows Servers, Active Directory, MS SQL is required.
Ability to keep up to date with new technical offerings and solutions.
