Job Summary:

The Systems Engineer with EdgeCo Holdings is an integral part of our IT team in ensuring that the company’s technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently. The Systems Engineer is responsible for several tasks related to working on and maintaining the company’s virtual machines, operating systems, software, and cloud integration.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA – Hybrid, 2 days/week in office. Remote candidates considered.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

System administration work including provisioning and managing infrastructure resources on Cloud and VMWare services.
Implement and support regulatory compliance, policies and procedures related to IT operations and security.
System Patching and managing internal and external network connectivity.
Maintain the functionality, security, and uptime of critical technology systems.
Regularly improve the security posture of enterprise systems and network infrastructure.
Document all aspects of the enterprise systems and network infrastructure and key processes related to its operation and maintenance.
Record and respond to technical incidents and requests using the Service Desk ticketing system, ServiceNow, while meeting performance goals.
Assist with new technology investigations, coordinate implementations, support new enterprise applications and technologies entering the infrastructure, write and update service and procedural documentation, propose and implement process improvements, and work collaboratively with peers and support teams.
Implement and support existing and new applications and technologies entering the infrastructure and IaaS.
Resolve technical issues within defined SLAs and document root cause and resolution.
Troubleshoot and resolve resources, software, and connectivity issues.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of overall infrastructure including cloud backup and recovery strategy (Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity).

Where possible:

Research and analyze requirements then determine the best applicable IaaS solutions.
Assist in composing blueprints, policies, and governance for the enterprise.
Document architecture, policies, and procedures.
Assist in setting up initial infrastructure and maintaining existing solutions.
Review existing solutions for cost and performance and make recommendations for improvements.
Ensure security and compliance with infrastructure and IaaS solutions.

 

Qualifications:

BS degree in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and/or 5+ years equivalent work experience.
5+ years managing Information Technology, network and cloud support.
5+ years in a professional environment.
Proven experience in VMWare. Including VCenter and Horizon published apps.
Experience managing Active Directory, OUs, Group Policies, Windows Server Update Services.
Proven experience in the implementation and maintenance of cloud and VMWare solutions.
Experience, and understanding of Infrastructure as Code.
Experience with Containers, and Container Orchestration such as Kubernetes and Docker.
Experience with a variety of DevOps tools. Including CICD Pipelines, Terraform, Azure Bicep, Jenkins, and SonarQube.
Experience with Azure DevOps Git as code source control.
Good people skills and the ability to interact and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
Proactive in understanding and staying up to date on the current projects in progress, projects in pipeline and operational issues. Similarly, with industry technology trends and applicability of cloud solutions.
Administration experience with Microsoft Azure cloud-based systems.
Strong hands-on/technical knowledge of core Microsoft technologies including but not limited to Azure, Windows Servers, Active Directory, and Azure Active Directory.
Preferred certifications include: MCSE, MCSA, PMP or Project+, AZ-900 (MS Azure Fundamentals), and AZ-104 (Microsoft Azure Administrator).
Experience with SCRUM/Agile development methodologies preferred.
